What a difference a coach can make. Last football match between Italy and Bulgaria for Fifa Word Cup qualifications gave us a moral lesson.
In the beginning of the match, during the Bulgarian national anthem, the audience in Palermo’s stadium started whisteling against the foreign team.
Suddenly coach Cesare Prandelli, who was sitting on the bench, stood up and started applauding the visitors.
Thanks to Prandelli’s action the atmosphere has lightened considerably, but there is still much to be done. According to several players, such as Kevin Prince Boateng, the Italian championship is seriously suffering from racism. This is one of the reasons why Boateng left the Italian championship.
Last week the Italian Congo-born Minister Cécile Kyenge met the National team. Speaking to the “Azzurri”, the Minister highlighted that sports such as football represent a model against racism, above all for young people. It’s a shame that Mario Balottelli could not join the meeting, since he was sleeping at home!Author : aleflo
